Be careful. Take only a small bit at a time. Start very near the edge. I use this to break small pieces of kindling off of a piece of split hardwood firewood.

Split up one lof of sweet gum in about 2 min. I freaking love this thing. You will need a hammerdrill. Just work it down the log and you shouldn't bind up but if you do, don't go in reverse. Its a two peice bit and will unscrew.

Overall I am really pleased with this product. I use it every time I process some wood to bring into the house for our small wood burning stove. Then I leave it by the wood box inside if I need to make more kindling. I think this would work great for camping also to make some smaller kindling to get your fire started.
